The international police agency was called in after the parents, who are serving a six-month jail sentence for refusing to reveal the child's whereabouts, were interviewed in prison on Friday.
Avon and Somerset Police said they believed the child was with the parents of its Thai mother, Sakunna Milton, 23.
The father, Andrew Milton, 38, from Wellington in Somerset, is a paedophile and considered to be a serious risk to the infant, the High Court, sitting in Taunton, was told on Thursday. Police had found pornographic CD-roms and emails relating to his sexual exploits with young girls in Thailand during a search of his home, the court was told.
Judge Malcolm Cotterill jailed the couple for contempt of court after they defied a court order to reveal where they were keeping the baby, whose sex is not known. He told Mrs Milton: "Your husband is a paedophile. The court considers your husband to be a great danger to children."
But despite being told she might be allowed custody of the child if she revealed its whereabouts, she refused to co-operate. Social services have been granted permission to take the child into care.
