Husband charged with five murders

A man has appeared in court charged with murdering his wife and four stepchildren.

Lee Ford, 33, bowed his head as the charges were read at Truro Magistrates Court, in Corwall.

He is accused of killing his wife Lesley, 36, Sarah-Jane Tranter, 17, Ann-Marie Tranter, 16, Stephen Tranter, 14, and Craig Tranter, 13.

The killings are alleged to have happened between August 26 and yesterday.

Ford, of Carnkie, near Helston, Cornwall, spoke only to confirm his name, address and age to magistrate Nick Trefusis.

He was remanded in custody to reappear at Truro Magistrates court next Thursday.

Police confirmed two more bodies had been found in a field at Treluswell, about four miles from the family home.

Three bodies were discovered yesterday in a shed in the garden of their detached bungalow.

Mrs Ford and her four children from a previous relationship were reported missing to police at the end of September.
