Hull 'hostage situation' latest: Armed police surround home in Bransholme
'It’s a hostile situation, police are at every corner,' resident says
Armed police have surrounded a house in Hull amid fears that a "hostage situation" has developed with a child in the house.
Officers were responding to a reports that "a man within the property is behaving aggresively and is possession of a bladed weapon," Humberside Police said in a statement.
They added that a cordon had been put in place and specialist officers were on the scene.
Neighbours told the Hull Daily Mail that a "hostage situation" was taking place.
One said: “My son was out playing and got told by police to leave the area because there was a person with a firearm.”
Another said: “It’s a hostile situation, police are at every corner, nobody is allowed in or out of the streets, no signs of anybody with any form of injury, police are treating it as an urgent matter.”
A police helicopter was also reportedly at the scene.
The siege ended after more than six hours and a man was led away by police. It was unclear if he was arrested.
