Huhne's partner in appeal bid

Carina Trimingham, the partner of the MP Chris Huhne, is seeking permission to appeal after the High Court rejected her privacy and harassment claim against Associated Newspapers.

She had sued over a series of stories in the Daily Mail after her affair with Mr Huhne, who was Energy Secretary, became public in 2010. The judge ruled that she was not a "purely private figure".

Her appeal will argue that the court was mistaken in concluding that she would not have been distressed, and that it had failed to interpret references to her sexuality as pejorative.
