Man killed after being ‘dragged under car for some distance’ in hit-and-run

Police are looking for the driver who did not stop after hitting the 25-year-old in Chessington

A man has died after being dragged under a car in a hit-and-run in south London.

The man, 25, died at the scene after he was hit by the vehicle in Chessington shortly after midnight.

The driver did not stop and the man was “dragged under the car for some distance”, officers said.

The Metropolitan Police were alerted to the fatal hit-and-run at 12:13 am.

No arrests have been made and the car involved has not been found.

The deceased man’s identity has not been made public, but police are notifying his next of kin.

The formal identification process and a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.
