Guns found at nature reserve
A haul of guns and ammunition has been found at a nature reserve, police said today.
The first gun, which was not loaded, was discovered by a dog walker on Kinson Common, Bournemouth, Dorset on Friday.
A further seven firearms and ammunition were recovered over the weekend.
Police said they do not know where the guns have come from but believe they may be connected to serious crime.
The area remains sealed off while police continue to search the common.
Chief Inspector Ashley Adams, of Dorset Police, said: "The discovery of these firearms is a serious concern.
"At this stage we are not able to say where the firearms have come from but we believe that they may be connected to serious crimes in Dorset.
"All the weapons will be subject to detailed forensic examination and we will continue to search the area of Kinson Common for any further evidence.
"I'd like to thank the local community for their patience and support and I urge anyone with information - or anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area of Kinson Common to get in touch."
