Man, 54, arrested after eight-year-old girl stabbed to death
Police treating the case as a 'domestic incident' and not looking for anyone else
A 54-year-old man has been arrested after a girl was stabbed to death in a town near Walsall.
The child was discovered with serious injuries at a home in Brownhills on Saturday night and taken to hospital, where she died shortly afterward.
The man was also taken to hospital and treated for a stab wound to his stomach, West Midlands Police said. His condition is stable.
Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, from the force’s homicide unit, said: “We are treating this as a domestic incident and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the child’s death.
“Our family liaison team are supporting the family of the little girl, who are naturally devastated by her death. Our thoughts remain with them.”
Police said they were called to Valley View in Brownhills at about 9.15pm.
Officers will question the man “in due course”.
