Police have launched a murder investigation after a 14-year-old boy shot in broad daylight in east London died from his injuries.

He died shortly after 10pm on Tuesday evening after he suffered gunshot wounds during an incident near Forest Gate station a day earlier.

Metropolitan Police officers were called to Moore Walk in the borough of Newham and found two injured teenage boys.

They were both taken to an east London hospital where 14-year-old Corey Junior Davis died.

The second victim, a 17-year-old who survived, was said to have suffered "possible life changing injuries" and "remains in hospital in a stable condition".

No arrests have been made.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams, leading the investigation from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: “This is a very tragic incident, a teenage boy's life has been taken in an extreme act of violence leaving his family utterly devastated.

"We are pursuing all lines of enquiry to catch the person responsible for Corey's murder and are keen to hear from anyone who believes they might have information to come forward as it could prove vital to our investigation.

"Our thoughts are with Corey's family at this very difficult time.“
