First 'organ trafficking' case found

The first case of someone being brought to Britain to have an organ removed for trafficking has been uncovered, according to a report.

The case involved a woman who was brought into the country by a criminal gang to have an organ taken for sale on the black market. It is unclear if the victim was discovered in time to prevent the operation.

Details of the attempt came from a Salvation Army report. It is the first of its kind in the UK, Major Anne Read, of the Salvation Army, told The Daily Telegraph. The Salvation Army provides support for victims of trafficking on behalf of the Ministry of Justice.
