Fadi Fawaz, partner of late George Michael, arrested

An arrest warrant has been issued for Fadi Fawaz, the former partner of the late pop star George Michael.

The warrant was issued after the hairdresser, 44, failed to attend Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday to face an allegation he smashed a shop window.

District judge Alexander Jacobs issued a warrant for his arrest, with Mr Fawaz having previously failed to attend the same magistrates' court last month.

Mr Fawaz, of St George's Avenue in Islington, north London, is accused of one count of criminal damage.

He is alleged to have broken a window at Le Fix Natural Beauty Bar in Fitzrovia, near Oxford Street, valued at £800, on December 21 2020.

The matter was adjourned following a hearing lasting two minutes.

Mr Fawaz discovered the lifeless body of his former partner, the ex-Wham! frontman, at the entertainer's home in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, on Christmas Day 2016 when he arrived to wake him ahead of a planned lunch.

The singer, famous for hits including Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, Faith, and Careless Whisper, was 53 at the time of his death.

A coroner later said he died of natural causes: heart disease and a build-up of fat in his liver.
