A body found in a forest in Scotland has been confirmed as that of missing youth worker Emma Faulds.

The 39-year-old was last seen on 28 April in Monkton, South Ayrshire.

Human remains found around 25 miles away in Galloway Forest earlier this week have now been identified as the missing Kilmarnock woman.

Police Scotland said her family had been made aware it was her and specialist officers were "continuing to provide support to her family.”

Last month, Ross Willox appeared in court charged with the murder of Ms Faulds.

He was also charged with attempting to defeat the ends of justice on 10 May before returning to Ayr Sheriff Court a week later for a second hearing.

The 40 year old, from Ayrshire, made no plea and was remanded in custody.
