Dashcam footage shows drunk motorcyclist crash into car

Police have released dashcam footage showing a drunken motorcyclist crashing head-on into a car.

The biker was critically injured after swerving into the path of the car vehicle, throwing him against the vehicle windscreen and sending his bike flying into the air.

He was airlifted to a London hospital following the crash in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. Police tests found him to be twice over the drink-drive limit.

David Burstow of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said: “We are releasing this footage in the hope it brings some reality, particularly to motorcyclists, of the serious consequences of being over the limit.

“The rider put himself, the occupants of the car and other road users at risk and this is not acceptable.

“I appreciate he is now paying for his actions not only through the courts but through the injuries he has suffered.”

Two people inside the car, which was travelling within speed limits, were not injured by the crash in March.

The motorcyclist, who has not been named, was disqualified from driving for 18 months at court in July.

Mr Burstow said: “The message from us is clear – do not drink and drive.”
