A hunt is under way for a hit-and-run driver who left a 14-year-old boy dead in the road after knocking him off his bike.

The teenager was riding along the A2 London Road when he was hit by a car close to the Bapchild Cricket Club, near Sittingbourne, Kent, shortly after 9pm yesterday.

The driver of the car, a grey Fiat Bravo, did not stop and sped off towards Teynham.

The boy was treated by paramedics but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kent Police said the Bravo would have had damage to its front end following the collision.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who saw a car fitting this description in the area at the time of the crash.

Anyone with information should contact the serious collision investigation unit on 01622 798538.
