Dorset murder: 75-year-old killed in seaside home, police say
Pensioner suffered injuries ‘consistent with assault’, post mortem finds
A murder inquiry has been launched after a 75-year-old man was found dead at his seaside home in Weymouth.
The pensioner suffered injuries “believed to be consistent with an assault”, a post mortem found.
Originally the 75-year-old’s death was treated as unexplained after his body was discovered on 7 September at his home in the Dorset town.
But after the autopsy, Dorset police arrested a 28-year-old woman who was known to the victim and a 38-year-old man on suspicion of murder.
A 37-year-old man has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
“Following the conclusion of the post-mortem examination and as a result of further extensive enquiries, we have launched a murder investigation,” said Detective Chief Inspector Rich Dixey. We have kept the victim’s family updated with these developments and they continue to be supported by specially trained officers.
“We are conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death and I would appeal to anyone with information that may assist our investigation to contact us.”
Dorset Police are keen to hear from any witnesses in the area of The Esplanade, to the rear of Alexandra Gardens, on the morning of 7 September.
