Disgraced BBC presenter Stuart Hall is facing a fresh police investigation after he was jailed last month for sexually abusing girls.
Mr Hall admitted 14 counts of indecent assault against girls as young as nine between 1967 and 1987 at Preston Crown Court in May. He was sentenced to 15-months in prison but this is set to be reviewed following more than 100 complaints that it was too lenient.
According to a report in the Daily Mirror, five new claims, including the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl, have now been made against the former presenter.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “We can confirm that we have received further allegations against Mr Hall and we are working closely with the Crown Prosecution Service to determine the most appropriate course of action.
“We take all allegations of sexual abuse seriously and we would encourage people with any information about sexual abuse or who has been a victim of sexual abuse to come forward and report their concerns confident in the knowledge it will be investigated appropriately and with sensitivity.”
Mr Hall, from Wilmslow, Cheshire, was arrested and subsequently charged on 5 December last year with indecently assaulting three young girls.
Further allegations against the presenter, formerly most famous for being host of the BBC show It's a Knockout, emerged after his arrest.
Before admitting the charges he had made a public pronouncement on the steps of a court, describing all the claims against him as "cruel, pernicious and spurious".
Following the sentencing last month shadow attorney general Emily Thornberry called the 15 month sentence 'unduly lenient'. Harriet Harman, deputy leader of the Labour party, also added to calls for the sentence to be referred.
The BBC is currently investigating claims Mr Hall was able to abuse girls on its premises.
