Decomposing body of British tourist found stuffed inside bag on street in Delhi

Indian police have launched a murder inquiry after the decomposing body of a British tourist was found stuffed inside a plastic bag.
Officers in the country’s capital said they believed 40-year-old, named locally by officials as Andrew Roddick, had been killed several days ago.
Mr Roddick’s body was reportedly found early on Sunday morning on the edge of a wholesale market in the south-east of Delhi. The corpse had been there for several hours but people initially thought it was rubbish. The alarm was eventually raised by a shopkeeper.
The British High Commission in Delhi said they were aware of the case and that the next of kin had been informed. Mr Roddick had apparently entered India several months ago on a tourist visa and reports in the local media said he had been touring the country by motorbike.
The reports said detectives had discovered injury marks on the Briton’s body and that his hands and legs may have been tied together. Officers are questioning people in the Bhogal market area and examining CCTV footage.
“A police team reached the spot and took the body from the plastic bag. Police have now kept the body in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences mortuary,” a senior police officer told the Press Trust of India news agency.
“Police have found injury marks on his head. Some injury marks were also found on other parts of his body.”
