Collapse of juror halts family 'massacre' trial
The trial of a man accused of killing four members of the same family was halted yesterday when one of the jurors collapsed while watching video evidence.
The panel of seven men and five women were watching footage of the scene of the murders of Mandy Power, 34, her 80-year-old mother, Doris Dawson, and her children Katie, 10, and Emily, eight.
David Morris, 39, a scrap metal dealer, who is on trial at Swansea Crown Court, denies murdering the family at their home in Clydach, Swansea Valley, in June 1999.
The video was taken by police in the hours after the family of four was "massacred" with a metal bar and the house set alight.
Patrick Harrington QC, for the prosecution, had warned the jury that the video would be distressing.
The jury had watched the tape for about 30 minutes before the man collapsed.
Some members of the publicfled the court in tears after the video stopped.
Mr Justice Butterfield adjourned the case until today.
