Chris Huhne files are handed to CPS
Prosecutors have received files on claims that the Cabinet minister Chris Huhne tried to dodge a speeding penalty after further investigations by Essex Police.
Officers were asked to carry out extended inquiries into the allegations by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and have "handed back" the files. Mr Huhne is alleged to have asked his now-ex-wife, Vicky Pryce, to accept penalty points on his behalf after breaking the speed limit in 2003.
In a newspaper interview in May, Ms Pryce claimed that the Energy Secretary tried to pass on his points to her to avoid losing his licence. Mr Huhne has denied the allegations.
A CPS spokesman said: "We have received further material and expect to receive more."
