Chingford murder: Woman arrested after man in 60s found dead at London home

Suspect in hospital with burns injuries will be questioned by police ‘in due course’

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead following a house fire.

The man, believed to be in his late 60s, was found dead inside a property in Genever Close, Chingford, northeast London, at about 1.12pm on Tuesday.

The woman, who police believe to be in her 50s, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

She was taken to hospital to be treated for burns but her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

She remains in hospital in a stable condition and police say she will be questioned “in due course”.

The man has not yet been formally identified and inquiries continue to trace his next of kin.

A crime scene remained in place on Wednesday and detectives continued to investigate.
