Boys try to set fire to bus

Police are hunting two boys after the pair were caught trying to set fire to a bus - while they were on it.

The duo were caught on CCTV repeatedly trying to burn four bus seats at the back of a double-decker in Croydon, south London.

The T31 bus was travelling along Field Way in Croydon at about 7.45pm when the incident took place.

There was one other passenger on board at the time who alerted the driver, who then contacted police.

Four seats were damaged as the boys attempted to set them alight and officers from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are treating the incident as attempted arson.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

The suspects are described as teenage white boys, aged about 14 to 16 years of age, one had brown hair while the other had cropped, ginger hair.
