This is the moment a man was violently attacked before having his car stolen from his own driveway.

Vince Cappelli was heading to work in Castle Bromwich, near Birmingham, when he was approached by two masked men who demanded he hand over his car keys.

When he refused he was beaten to the ground and hit with an iron bar during the attack just after 9am on 25 February.

One of the men made off with Mr Cappelli’s £54,000 Audi Q7 after snatching the keys as his wife, Jennifer, tried to block them with her own car.

The whole ordeal was caught on CCTV.

The 57-year-old grandfather was admitted to hospital but did not sustain any life threatening injuries.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph he said: "We need to catch these men before they strike again.

"These people are scum. At the end of the day you work hard for your stuff and you can't buy stuff you want because it's being stolen.”

He said a neighbour had reported seeing the two men waiting outside his house at 7:45am that morning.

West Midlands Police has put out an appeal for information regarding the incident.

In a statement they said: "A 57-year-old man was stood on his driveway with his wife at about 9am on 25 February when a white Ford Kuga pulled up.

"Two masked men armed with metal bars jumped out and demanded the victim hand over keys to an Audi Q7.

"When he refused, one of the men hit him several times with a metal bar. The man attended hospital but luckily did not sustain any serious injuries.
