An actor from the TV series Game Of Thrones and Casualty had part of his ear bitten off during a dispute over noise at a Travelodge hotel in Newcastle.

Clive Mantle, 55, underwent surgery to reattach the severed part of his ear after the incident early on Sunday.

A 32-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent.

Mantle had been appearing in a touring production of The Ladykillers at the city's Theatre Royal, but his agent said he would not able to take part as he must avoid getting make-up near his wound.
