Car deliberately drives into cyclist prompting police appeal

Police are searching for a motorist who deliberately drove into a cyclist and knocked him off his bike.

Filmed from the inside of the car by the driver’s passenger, footage shows the Volkswagen tailing the cyclist through a residential estate before veering onto the pavement to hit him.

After the man falls from his bike to the ground, the driver and passenger in the front seat can be heard laughing.

The angry cyclist shouts, “What are you f***ing doing, you p****?!" before the motorist drives away from the scene.

The incident is believed to have taken place at the junction of Somerset Close and Hollymore Lane on the Longmead Estate in Epsom, Surrey some time last year.

Surrey Police said the footage had recently been brought to its attention after being widely shared on social media.

The force is now trying to track down the victim, the driver and passengers involved.

“We are appealing for the public’s help in tracing the people involved in a video where a cyclist was hit by a car in Epsom,” a spokesperson said.

“The incident was filmed by a passengers in the front seat – we did not receive any reports at the time.”
