Police have released CCTV images of a man they are searching for in connection with the murder of his sister and mother.

The images confirm original reports from the police investigation that the suspect, Peter Fox, 26, had travelled to London around the time of the murders.

In the CCTV images, Peter Fox can be seen at Liverpool's Lime Street and London's Euston stations earlier in the week.

Police say they "urgently" need to speak to Peter Fox, 26, and are appealing for him to come forward.

They believe he still may be in London.

Both his mother and sister were discovered dead at separate addresses in Bootle, Merseyside.

Now Merseyside Police are working with London's Metropolitan Police to try and track him down.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Rooney urged the public not to approach Fox if they see him.

He said: “We would urge anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the police on 999.”

Peter Fox is described as a white male, around 5ft tall with a slight build. His hair is short and dark, and he has a Liverpool accent.

Bernadette Fox, 57, was found dead at an address in Bootle. Police believe she died of asphyxiation.

Her daughter, Sarah Fox, 27, was found dead at a separate address in Bootle, having suffered multiple stab wounds.

The investigation into the deaths is at an early stage, according to police, who say the motive is unclear.

They believe "the offender may be known to the victims".

Patrols by police officers and PSCSOs have been stepped up and are offering security and crime prevention advice to residents in the Bootle area.

The family of Bernadette and Sarah fox released a statement following their death, saying they were "devastated following the loss".

A spokesperson for the family said: "Bernadette, who was a mother of three and grandmother of three, was a very outgoing and lovely person who wouldn’t harm anyone. In fact she only ever had nice things to say about people. She was so caring and would help anyone.

"Sarah was loved by her family and well liked by her friends and neighbours. She was a fantastic aunty and was a cheeky, bubbly and outgoing person who loved her dog. They will both be greatly missed."
