A small bomb has been discovered in Northern Ireland.

It was found in a hedgerow wrapped inside a plastic bag in Co Antrim yesterday afternoon and police said it was viable.

Four houses were evacuated while the device, near Tildarg Road in the Kells area, was dealt with by army technical officers, according to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).

It was taken away for forensic examination.
