Body of missing woman found in Poland

The body of a mother who had been missing for more than six months has been found in Poland.

Vitalija Baliutavicience, 29, originally from Lithuania, disappeared from her home in Burmer Road, Peterborough, in August last year.

Despite being unable to find any trace of her, detectives were convinced she had been murdered.

Rimas Venclovas, 46, was extradited from Poland in October and charged with murder and kidnap.

Today a spokesman for Cambridgeshire Police said: "DNA testing has taken place and confirmed that it is Vitalija Baliutavicience.

"A team of officers is heading to Poland and will be working with Polish authorities to continue inquiries and carry out further examinations."

Ms Baliutavicience had a 10-year-old son.
