Body found on railway line
An investigation was launched after a body was spotted on a railway line by a train driver today.
The driver reported seeing the body just outside Llandaff station, in Cardiff, this morning, a spokeswoman for Arriva Trains Wales said.
The spokeswoman said the matter had been referred to the British Transport Police (BTP) who had declared the area a crime scene while they investigate.
A BTP spokeswoman said: "We received a report at 8.30am today that a person had been struck by a train in the Llandaff area of south Wales.
"Police and paramedics attended and the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"We are investigating the death which is being treated as unexplained at this stage."
The Arriva Trains Wales spokeswoman said the body did not appear to have been struck by the train driven by the person who reported it.
She said delays could be expected on the Cardiff to Pontypridd line today.
Anyone with information is asked to contact BTP on 0800 405040.
