Police have said the death of a woman whose body was discovered in a children’s play area in Devon is not being treated as suspicious.

Officers discovered the body at 3am on Sunday in Cary Park, Torquay.

The deceased has been identified as a woman in her thirties from the town. Her family have been informed and no one else is being sought in connection with the death.

Photos taken on Monday showed a climbing frame covered by a police tarpaulin as forensic officers inspected the scene.

The park and play area - which consists of a tubular slide and a wooden frame - has since reopened.

A statement released by Devon and Cornwall police said the force received a "very positive response from the public" relating to an earlier witness appeal regarding the incident.

It continued: "Officers would like to thank all those who came forward and assisted their investigation."
