A man has been arrested after a woman was allegedly raped by up to four men inside a Birmingham strip club.

Police were called to the Rocket Club, in the city’s famed Broad Street on Sunday night.

Details of the attack were made public as the venue’s licence was suspended during an urgent review by Birmingham City Council.

Papers submitted to the meeting by West Midlands Police said “up to” four men had been involved in the incident.

Chief superintendent Stephen Graham said: "On Sunday, September 26, a telephone call was made to West Midlands Police by a member of the public stating that another member of the public had been raped in the Rocket Club on Broad Street in Birmingham City Centre."

No further details were revealed as the review was held behind closed doors, but West Midlands police said the arrested man had now been bailed pending further inquiries.

The Rocket Club advertises itself as an "inviting and comfortable" space to "relax and unwind".

It boats of having a large main stage, two performance platforms and an “intimate champagne room” complete with its own pole.
