Barry murder: Man stabbed to death in front of Christmas shoppers on busy high street
A 24-year-old has been charged with murder, police say
A man has been stabbed to death in front of Christmas shoppers on a busy high street, police have said.
Jordan Davies, aged 23, died after being attacked outside an Iceland store in the centre of Barry, a Welsh seaside town.
South Wales Police said 24-year-old Jordan Brown, who was known to the victim, has been charged with murder.
He was arrested within hours of the stabbing, according to police.
DCI Mark O’Shea said: “This was a tragic incident which has cost a young man his life, and has devastated families.”
He said the stabbing took place “in a busy town centre” on Monday and was an “extremely distressing incident for all who were present, including local retailers and shoppers”.
“I would like to thank those members of the community who came to Jordan’s aid and did what they could to help him,” he said.
The attack happened at 4pm on Holton Road in the town on Wales‘ southern coast.
Police said the incident was captured on camera and appealed for anyone with footage to pass it to police instead of sharing it publicly.
They said they could “fully investigate and ensure justice for the young victim” this way.
DCI O’Shea said: “The public have been really forthcoming with information, which proved key in ensuring a suspect was apprehended quickly. We’re still, however, appealing for anyone who has any information – no matter insignificant it may seem – to come forward.”
Anyone with information can submit it here or phone police on 101 and quote occurrence 1900461821, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Mr Brown will appear before Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
