Bank robbers escape with thousands

Tuesday 22 January 2013 17:40 EST

Thieves have cut their way through the wall of a bank and escaped with tens of thousands of pounds.

Officers from West Midlands Police are hunting the thieves who got inside the branch of Lloyds TSB in Hagley Road West, Warley, and raided its cash machine on Monday night.

Detectives branded the burglars "audacious" after they cut a hole in the masonry just big enough for a person to squeeze through, yards from a busy main road, covering their activities from view with a tarpaulin.
