BA man 'in plot to blow up aircraft'
An Islamic extremist with a job as a British Airways computer expert conspired with a radical preacher to blow up an aircraft bound for America, a court heard yesterday.
In email exchanges with the radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, Rajib Karim shared details of his BA contacts from his home in Newcastle, the court heard. Mr Awlaki has never been caught.
Mr Karim, 31, a Bangladeshi national, denies conspiring to blow up an aircraft and gaining a UK job to exploit terrorist purposes. He has already pleaded guilty to three other terror charges, the jury was told.
Woolwich Crown Court heard Mr Karim established a deep cover and never aired extreme views. The trial continues.
