BUCKINGHAM PALACE 15 October: The Duke of Edinburgh, President, Windsor Park Equestrian Club, and President, Guards Polo Club, this evening attended a Dinner Dance at the Pavilion, Ascot Racecourse, to mark the retirement of Mr Roland Wiseman.

15 October: The Duke of York this morning launched National Fire Safety Week 1994 at Teesside Airport, County Durham, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Durham (Mr David Grant) and Major Anthony Wharton (Deputy Lieutenant of Cleveland).

Captain David Thompson was in attendance.

15 October: The Princess Royal, Colonel-in-Chief, The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment, this morning opened Kidderminster Territorial Army Centre, the Shrubbery, Birmingham Road, Kidderminster, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Hereford and Worcester (Mr Thomas Dunne).

Mrs Andrew Feilden was in attendance.

KENSINGTON PALACE 15 October: Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester was represented by Mrs Michael Harvey at a Memorial Service for Sir Thomas Armstrong in Christ Church, Oxford, this afternoon.

16 October: The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester this afternoon arrived at Heathrow Airport at the conclusion of Their Royal Highnesses' visit to Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan.

Miss Suzanne Marland and Major Nicholas Barne were in attendance.

YORK HOUSE 15 October: The Duke of Kent, Vice- Chairman, the British Overseas Trade Board, this evening left London Heathrow for Thailand, to attend 'Britain in Thailand Health and the Environment' week.

Mr Nicolas Adamson was in attendance.

16 October: The Duchess of Kent this afternoon visited the Norman Treasures of Norfolk Exhibition, Norwich Castle Museum, Norwich, and was met on arrival by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Norfolk (Mr Timothy Colman).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, the Norwich and Norfolk Festival, later attended the Festival Finale, St Andrew's Hall, Norwich, Norfolk.

Fiona, Lady Astor of Hever was in attendance.

ROYAL ENGAGEMENTS The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh pay a state visit to Russia. Prince Edward, Chairman, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award International Association, attends a dinner given by the Anglo-Mauritian Association at the Royal Over- Seas League, Over-Seas House, London SW1. The Princess Royal, President, Animal Health Trust, attends the Annual Equestrian Awards Ceremony, Grosvenor House Hotel, London W1; and as President of Patrons, Crime Concern, attends the launch of Crime Concern's 'Safer Cities: partners in crime prevention' programme, Royal Aeronautical Society, London W1. Princess Margaret, President, National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, opens the Society's Tilbury Children's Project, Tilbury, Essex; and as President, Friends of the Elderly and Gentlefolk's Help, attends a reception and performance of Opera Interludes at the Fishmongers' Hall, London EC4. Princess Alexandra, Honorary Commandant General, Royal Hong Kong Police Force, visits Hong Kong. Prince Michael of Kent visits RAF Kinloss, Morayshire.

Changing of the Guard The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; F Company Scots Guards mounts the Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the Welsh Guards.

Windsor Castle The Precincts and State Apartments at Windsor Castle open between 10am and 5pm.
