Eurotunnel last night dismissed an electrical accident during testing in the pounds 10bn Channel tunnel as a 'comparatively minor' incident.
The accident, on 13 November, happened during tests on power cables. The Mail on Sunday said that an explosion caused by 25,000 volts hitting a metal bar left a 750-metre section a 'twisted wreck'. Eurotunnel said a short cable was damaged.
