Watch as BBC bosses are questioned on the broadcaster's handling of the Huw Edwards scandal on Tuesday, 10 September.
BBC Director-General Tim Davie and Chairman Dr Samir Shah CBE appeared before the House of Lords Communications and Digital Committee to speak about the corporation’s future and its handling of the newsreader's case.
The session began with questions about Edwards after the BBC admitted it was told that the former TV presenter had been arrested in November 2023 but continued to employ him for around five months until he left on medical advice.
It comes after the 63-year-old pleaded guilty in July to charges of having indecent images of children, with seven of the 41 being of the most serious type, after he resigned from the corporation in April.
Edwards, who spent four decades at the corporation, was responsible for leading coverage of historic events including Queen Elizabeth II's death.
The BBC has said it has “authorised the Executive to seek the return of salary paid to Mr Edwards from the time he was arrested in November last year”, an estimated £200,000.
