Warwickshire Police said Colin Middleton, 40, who was arrested on Saturday in Pitlochry, Perthshire, Scotland, was brought back to Nuneaton police station in Warwickshire last night.
Mr Middleton, of Bartley Green, Birmingham, is due to appear before Nuneaton magistrates charged with illegal possession of a firearm.
Mr Maidens, 34, was murdered in the lounge of his home in the town on Wednesday night by a gunman wearing a crash helmet.
