Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Travis Kelce is already making moves in Hollywood. The Super Bowl champ has his first executive producer credit on a new film that will have its world premiere in March at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas.

ā€œMy Dead Friend Zoeā€ is described as a darkly comedic drama about a U.S. Army veteran, the dead best friend she canā€™t let go and her estranged grandfather. The film stars Ed Harris, Sonequa Martin-Green and Natalie Morales, who are all credited as executive producers alongside Kelce. Directed and co-written by Kyle Hausmann-Stokes, ā€œMy Dead Friend Zoeā€ will debut on March 9 at the festival. It does not yet have a distributor in place for wider release.

Kelce, whose high-profile romance with Taylor Swift has sparked a frenzy, has hinted about plans to dip his toes into entertainment following his ā€œSaturday Night Liveā€ appearance last year. Last week before the Super Bowl, he told the Los Angeles Times that heā€™s been focused on football but that ā€œthereā€™s definitely Hollywood talks out there.ā€

He said that, personally, his preferred genre is comedy.

ā€œIā€™m comedy all the way,ā€ he said. ā€œI just like to have a fun time and make people laugh.ā€
