Tottenham’s Gareth Bale has been nominated for both the PFA Player and Young Player of the Year awards. He is joined on the first list by Charlie Adam, Scott Parker, Samir Nasri, Carlos Tevez and NemanjaVidic. Jack Wilshere is on the Young Player list. MORE
World’s top two paired at Masters
Martin Kaymer and Lee Westwood, the world No 1 and No 2 respectively, will face off at the Masters this week. Kaymer replaced Westwood at the top of the rankings in February. Champion Phil Mickelson has been paired with Australian Geoff Oglivy. MORE
Poulter predicts Woods struggle
Ian Poulter has predicted Tiger Woods will fail at the Masters. “I don’t think he’ll finish in the top five,” he said. “The shots he was hitting last month were very inconsistent.” Woods has not won in the last 10 majors. MORE

Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore yesterday told a parliamentary select committee that all club owners should be identified to the league in future. If Leeds United are promoted, the owner of their trust will be have to be disclosed. MORE
Bath ease concerns over ground work
Bath have paid £400,000 to buy a training ground and passed it into public ownership. This is in the hope that it will ease local concerns over their plans to redevelop and expand the Recreation Ground, which is currently used by local sports clubs. MORE

Ferguson: United can win the treble

Tottenham suffer Madrid nightmare
Tottenham’s hopes of reaching the Champions League semi-finals were left in tatters as they were beaten 4-0 at Real Madrid in the quarter-final first leg. Peter Crouch was sent off after 15 minutes, when Spurs were already 1-0 down, and they never recovered. Jose Mourinho’s side took the lead after just four minutes when Emmanuel Adebayor, on loan from Manchester City, headed in Mesut Ozil’s corner. Peter Crouch was then booked for a bad tackle and only seven minutes later he was dismissed for a second reckless lunge. Spurs defended well but in the second half Madrid’s numerical advantage told. After 57 minutes Adebayor scored his second, with another header, this time from a Marcelo cross. Angel di Maria then made it three with an excellent strike from distance. Cristiano Ronaldo completed the rout three minutes from time. The former Manchester United winger shot through Heurelho Gomes after receiving substitute Kaka’s cross to the far post. MORE
Schalke storm to shock win at Inter
Schalke routed Internazionale 5-2 in a surprising win at San Siro. Dejan Stankovic had put Inter ahead but Schalke fought back to 2-2 at half-time. Goals from Raul, Goncalves Edu and an own goal then gave the German side a big lead for the second leg. MORE
Rangers overtake Celtic at the top
Rangers moved back to the top of the Scottish Premier League with a 2-0 win at St Johnstone last night. Kyle Lafferty scored after 20 minutes when he took advantage of a poor back pass, and the win was made safe by Steven Naismith with seven minutes left.
