Croatia and Czechs make it through

Newlands to host Saracens match
The South African Rugby Union has announced that Saracens' Heineken Cup pool match against Biarritz in January, planned to take place in Cape Town, will be held at Newlands, a 45,000-capacity stadium which hosts the Stormers in Super Rugby. MORE

Own-goal gift gives England Swede dreams at Wembley
A first-half own-goal was enough to give England a second 1-0 victory in three days at Wembley last night, Fabio Capello's side beating Sweden for the first time in 43 years. Gareth Barry's header from a Stewart Downing cross glanced off Celtic defender Daniel Majstorovic and past Andreas Isaksson after 23 minutes as England recorded a first win over their visitors since 1968. Capello made a number of changes from the side that overcame World and European champions Spain at the weekend, with Kyle Walker, Jack Rodwell and Bobby Zamora making full debuts. Playing in midfield, Manchester United's Phil Jones rolled wide after a fine run, while Rodwell hit the post. Sweden improved after the break but a dismal second half failed to yield much of interest, in front of a crowd of just 48,876 – England's lowest at the new Wembley. MORE
Ireland complete qualification job
The Republic of Ireland finished what they started in Tallinn, beating Estonia 5-1 on aggregate in Dublin to qualify for their first major tournament in a decade. Stephen Ward gave the hosts the lead, before Konstantin Vassiljev made it 1-1 on the night. MORE
Lockyer ready to take his final bow
Australia captain Darren Lockyer says he is looking forward to bringing the curtain down on his career in Saturday's Four Nations final against England at Elland Road. "It's a nice place to finish," he said. "I've got some good memories of it." MORE
