Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Some of Roberto Mancini's most experienced Manchester City players are starting to question the defensive changes which have contributed to the club being on the verge of Champions League elimination.
A number of senior players are said to share Micah Richards' doubts about Mancini's decision to introduce a three-man defence, despite the club's four-man unit being the sternest defence in the Premier League in the past two seasons. The frustrations shown by some players about the alterations to the style of play are made worse by the fact that Mancini's relationship with some of them is not the warmest. Richards, above, made the point after the 3-1 defeat to Ajax at the Amsterdam ArenA on Wednesday that the side had twice conceded after going to a back three. "We are happy just to play, but I think the players prefer a back four. It is what the manager wants," said Richards. MORE
