Chelsea condemned Bolton Wanderers to their sixth league defeat of the season yesterday, winning 5-1 at the Reebok Stadium. Daniel Sturridge and Frank Lampard scored two each in the first half, before Lampard completed his hat-trick on 59 minutes. MORE

World No 4 Andy Murray has his sights on usurping Roger Federer asworld No 3 after winning the Thailand Open, beating American Donald Young 6-2 6-0. Murray said: “I’ll keep working hard to give myself a shot at doing that [becoming No 3].” MORE
McClaren quits after Forest defeat
Manager Steve McClaren and chairman Nigel Doughty have resigned from Nottingham Forest. Former England manager McClaren took over this summer but Forest, who lost 3-1 to Birmingham City yesterday, have taken eight points from 10 games under him. MORE
Danedream claims win in Longchamp
German horse Danedream stunned the field by winning the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp. The 20-1 three-year-old won in a record time of two minutes 24.49 seconds. “This is my best moment in racing,” said trainer Peter Schiergen. MORE

Walker earns Spurs north London bragging rights
Kyle Walker’s powerful strike gave Tottenham Hotspur a 2-1 win over Arsenal yesterday, moving them five points clear of their rivals. Rafael van der Vaart gave Spurs the lead just before half-time, volleying in after controlling Emmanuel Adebayor’s pass. Seven minutes into the second half, Aaron Ramsey equalised, tapping in Alex Song’s cross from close range. With 17 minutes remaining Walker’s powerful shot went through and into the net. MORE
