Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Forwards coach Graham Rowntree has called on the British and Irish Lions to ignore provocation and keep their discipline as their tour continues this morning.
Brian O’Driscoll, right, captains the side against Western Force in Perth today, with all eyes on the travelling Lions players following Owen Farrell’s violent reaction to a punch from hooker Schalk Brits, during Saturday’s opening tour match against the Barbarians in Hong Kong.
“The hard man is the man who doesn’t retaliate,” Rowntree, a veteran of Lions tours in 1997 and 2005, said. “Provocation will always be there, but you can’t afford to be drawn into things. If we’re doing that, we’re not performing our tasks elsewhere on the pitch. We can’t be standing there getting into fights.
“We’re here to play positive rugby, to play our own game – to be competitive and physical within the laws. We’ll be very strong with anyone who allows himself to be drawn into any silliness, because you can be banned and miss matches, even miss the rest of the tour, if you get involved.” MORE
