Rory McIlroy has said he was delighted to cap Great Britain's "feel-good" fortnight with his second victory in a major. The Northern Irishman's stunning US PGA victory at Kiawah Island on Sunday followed a fortnight of success as London hosted the Olympic Games.
"There is a huge feel-good factor in Great Britain and in Ireland," said McIlroy after his eight-shot victory. "I am happy to cap it off with a win." McIlroy's success came after a similarly stunning victory at last year's US Open.
"I've won my second major at the same age as Tiger [Woods]," the 23-year-old added. "But he went on that run. I'd love to tell you I'm going to do the same, but I don't know." MORE
Moynihan to step down as BOA chief
Colin Moynihan is to step down from his position as chair of the British Olympic Association in the wake of Great Britain's spectacular success at hosting the Games. "I strongly believe that this is the right time," Moynihan, who will remain in the post until November, said.
