Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Sinfield stars in mother of all comebacks from Leeds
Kevin Sinfield climbed up to fourth place in rugby league’s all-time list of point-scorers as Leeds maintained their 100 per cent record with a remarkable 43-12 win at Hull to go top of Super League.
Sinfield booted seven successful place kicks and added a drop goal for good measure as the Rhinos overcame an abject first-half performance to run their hosts ragged with seven tries without reply after the break, two of them from the evergreen Danny McGuire on his 350th appearance and two others from his old half-back partner Rob Burrow.
It was an astonishing turn-around for Leeds, who had trailed 12-0 at the break to two tries from another veteran half-back, Leon Pryce, which took his career total to 200.
Hull coach Lee Radford would have been delighted with his team’s first-half performance but dismayed by their collapse which leaves them with three straight defeats.
