Cox helps send Orient to Wembley
Second-half goals from Dean Cox and Chris Dagnall took Leyton Orient through to the League One play-off final as they beat Peterborough 3-2 on aggregate. The O’s survived a late Conor Washington goal to secure a Wembley date with either Rotherham or Preston on Sunday week.
Frenchman wins sodden fourth stage
Torrential rain on the fourth stage of the Giro d’Italia caused several riders to slip in Bari. Frenchman Nacer Bouhanni won the 112-kilometre stage ahead of Giacomo Nizzolo and Tom Veelers as the riders agreed not to have a sprint finish due to the bad weather. MORE

Roger Federer returns to action today a week after becoming a father for the third and fourth time. “The fact the twins arrived [last] Tuesday gave me a better chance to play,” the Swiss said ahead of his match with Jérémy Chardy at the Rome Masters. MORE
Mercedes bring back the noise
Championship leaders Mercedes are to trial a modified exhaust system in Catalonia at Bernie Ecclestone’s request. A megaphone attachment to the exhaust will amplify the noise, following complaints over the quieter races so far this season. MORE
