From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The US actress will feel familiar with parts of Aaliyah's life in the television film, from her debut on the show Star Search at the age of 10 to her chart success with “Try Again”.

Zendaya also entered the spotlight at a young age as a main character on the Disney Channel’s series Shake It Up.
The sitcom, which ended in 2013, followed the adventures of her character Raquel “Rocky” Blue and her best friend trying to make it as dancers.
Its success led to a self-titled album, including the single "Replay", that has more than 56 million views on YouTube.
In 2013, Zendaya also became the youngest contestant to appear on Dancing With the Stars, coming second.
Born Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman in Oakland, California, she started modelling at a young age and studied performing arts as well as joining dance troupes.
