From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. While appearing effortlessly elegant on screen, Jennifer Lawrence has developed a reputation for being something of a klutz.
Proving that her reputation precedes her, the 25-year-old actress nearly fell over as she made her way down the red carpet at the London fan screening of X Men: Apocalypse on Monday evening.
Lawrence almost lost her balance but fortunately managed to recover her composure and avoid a full-on fall ala her infamous Oscars tumble.
Of course, this is not the first or second time Lawrence has taken a plunge. For those who somehow missed it, she took a dramatic tumble after one of her heels got caught in her dress, at the Hunger Games premiere.
Likewise, she took a trip up the stairs at the 2013 Academy awards to collect her Oscar for Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook. The following year, she slipped yet again, dropping to her knees.
But in displaying her human side, Lawrence’s numerous falls have endeared her to many and she has been vocal about her clumsiness.
“I fell in every single city on the press tour. I fell around the world,” she joked on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon back in November. “Yesterday on the plane I spilt yoghurt all over the plane and the whole plane smelt like sour milk the whole time. You’re welcome”.
