After personal bequests of pounds 310,000, he left pounds 5,000 each to the Salvation Army (Eastbourne Branch), Invalid Children's Association, Sorrel Drive Home, Langney, St Wilfrid's Hospice, Eastbourne, Mencap (Eastbourne Branch), Friends of Eastbourne Hospitals, and Cancer Research, Royal Cancer Hospital, London SW7; and the residue for such charitable bodies as his Trustees select.

Mr Harry Austin, of London N2, left estate valued at pounds 635,598 net. After personal bequests of pounds 2,000, he left pounds 1,000 each to the League of Friends of Finchley Memorial Hospital, Blue Cross Animal Hospital, Battersea dogs Home and the Home of Rest for Horses, and the residue equally between the Guide dogs for the Blind and the British Kidney Patient Association.

Mrs Freda Clara Lacy, of Farnham, Surrey, left estate value at pounds 1,252,610 net. After a personal legacy of pounds 5,000, she left seven- eighteenths of the residue to the Phyllis Tuckwell Memorial Hospice, Farnham, two-ninths of the residue to the PDSA, 23- ninetieths of the residue to the Salvation Army, seven-ninetieths of the residue to the Abbeyfield Farnham Society, and one-eighteenth of the residue to the Benevolent Fund of St Andrew's Masonic Lodge.

Mr John Challice Hall, of St John's College, Cambridge, left estate valued at pounds 339,637 gross, pounds 337,842 net. After personal legacies of pounds 18,000, he left pounds 5,000 to Southernhay United Reformed Church, Exeter; pounds 1,000 to All Saints Parish Church, Barrow, Suffolk; two-thirds of the residue to St John's College, Cambridge, and one-third to Emmanuel United Reformed Church, Cambridge.

Baroness Olga Knoop, of Tunbridge Wells, Kent, left estate valued at pounds 197,668 net. After leaving pounds 10,000 and some effects to personal legatees, he left pounds 10,000 to the Dorothy Kerin Trust, Groombridge, and the residue to the Hung Cheng and Baroness Olga Koop Trust, for Ophthalmic Research.

Mr Alfred Beall Stevens, of Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, left estate valued at pounds 2,884,905 net. He left pounds 100,000 to be distributed among various charitable organisations.

Mr Robert Edward Alfred Drain, of Capel le Ferne, Kent, left estate valued at pounds 51,376 net. He left his entire estate to the Communist Party of Great Britain.
