Sir Henry Ashley Clarke, of Hampton Court, Surrey, British Ambassador to Rome 1953-62, left estate valued at pounds 76,432 net. He left pounds 1,000 each to the Athenaeum Club, the Garrick Club, the Royal Academy of Music, the Ancient Monuments Society, St George's Anglican Church, Venice, the Venice in Peril Fund, the Royal Academy of Dancing and the British Italian Society, and pounds 500 each to St Mary's Church, Halstock, Dorset, and the Anglo-Italian Society for the Protection of Animals.

Professor Peter Alexander, of Cullompton, Devon, biochemist and pioneer in cancer research, left estate valued at pounds 468,780 net.

Professor Thaddeus Robert Rudolph Mann, of Cambridge, Professor of the Physiology of Reproduction at Cambridge University 1967- 76, left estate valued at pounds 522,898 net. After personal bequests of pounds 8,000 and some effects, he left the residue to Trinity Hall, Cambridge, to be used to promote international relationships and exchange of scholars between Trinity Hall and Western European countries (especially Poland).

Lady Mary Katherine Harvey, of Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk, Woman of the Bedchamber to the Queen Mother 1961-63, left estate valued at pounds 169,391 net.

Mr John Patrick Emerson Grierson Berthoud, of London SW7, left estate valued at pounds 4,592,153 net. After personal bequests of pounds 207,500 and his home, he left pounds 50,000 to the Motor Neurone Disease Association, pounds 10,000 to the Seekers Trust, West Malling, Kent, pounds 5,000 to the Harry Edwards Spiritual Healing Sanctuary, Shere, Surrey, pounds 2,500 to Fulham Spiritual Church, London SW6, and the residue to the Charities Aid Foundation.

Anne Marie Colefax, of Hungerford, Berkshire, left estate valued at pounds 7,082,155 net. After personal bequests of pounds 1,890,000, property and effects, she left the residue to the Colefax Charitable Trust.

Mrs Dorothy Booker, of Bowness on Windermere, Cumbria, left estate valued at pounds 2,012,904 net. After personal bequests of pounds 126,000 and effects, she left the residue equally between Windermere Motor Boat Racing Club, the Friends of the Lake District, Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team, the Lake District Cheshire Home, Windermere, St John's Hospice, Slyne, RNLI, the National Trust, the National Equine Defence League, PDSA, RSPCA, the British Diabetic Association, and the International Donkey Protection Trust, Sidmouth.

Mrs Margaret Mary Frances Coventry, of London SW7, left estate valued at pounds 1,569,946 net.

Mr Harry Foy, of Margate, Kent, left estate valued at pounds 1,166,257 net.

Mr George Edward Twine, of Up Nately, Hampshire, left estate valued at pounds 1,629,222 net. He died

intestate.
