Valerie Fairman, who featured in the reality TV show 16 and Pregnant, has died age 23.

According to a Coroner’s report from Chester County in Pennsylvania, Fairman died on Wednesday in Coatesville. No cause of death has been determined and the investigation into her death is ongoing.

Family and friends have reportedly said Fairman’s cause of death appears to be an overdose, reports TMZ. Her mother told the gossip website her daughter collapsed in the bathroom of a friend’s house before being found unresponsive.

Fairman featured in the MTV series, which chronicles pregnant teenagers until they become new mothers, in 2010. She gave birth to her daughter Nevaeh, who is now seven-years-old, in 2009.

Since the programme, the reality TV star reportedly became embroiled in several legal issues and struggled with drug abuse.

A spokesperson for MTV said in a statement: “We are saddened by the news of Valerie Fairman’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.”
